Restaurant website: menu, table booking and banquets

Guests see the current menu with prices, book a table for a set time from their phone and get a confirmation. Staff stop answering “any tables free?” at peak hours, and a price change takes a minute, with no PDF and no designer.

People choose a restaurant by its menu, its atmosphere and whether they can get a table tonight. So we build the site around three things: a menu with prices and photos, table booking, and pages for banquets and events. The address, kitchen hours and Restaurant markup work for “restaurant near me” searches in Google and on the map.

  • Fixed estimate after a brief
  • Speed measured before handover
  • Reply within 2 hours on working days
  • Menu and prices Before coming, guests check the menu. On the site it is current: prices, photos, weight, allergens.
  • Is there a table People want to book right away, often in the evening or on the way: date, time and party size from a phone.
  • Where you are and when you are open Address, kitchen hours and directions next to the booking button, not at the bottom of page three.

A restaurant website: from scratch or a rebuild

Pick your situation — below you can see what we do in each.

No website yet

The menu lives in a PDF and on Instagram, bookings are phone-only We pick the format: a small site for a coffee shop, a full site for a restaurant with banquets or a chain
Unclear what to choose: a template, a builder, an aggregator or a studio A site with menu, booking and events, price and timeline in the contract before we start
Unclear what a restaurant website costs and what it includes We write the copy, you approve the menu and prices

We have a site, but guests still call

The menu on the site is outdated or opens as a PDF A free review: where guests drop off and what to fix
There is no booking, or the form does not work on a phone We fix or rebuild: menu, booking, speed, banquet pages
The site is slow and Google shows the venue only by name We keep the domain and Google rankings and redirect old URLs

Where a restaurant loses guests — and how the site fixes it

Five steps from search to dinner. At each one some people pick another place because what they need is not visible straight away.

  1. Looks for dinner

“Restaurant near me” or “café with a terrace” in Google Maps: photos, rating, distance.

Leaves if:the profile has no link to the menu or booking, only a phone number.

The site does:we link the site to your Google Maps profile with direct links to the menu and booking.

  2. Checks the menu

Wants to know what is on and what it costs before leaving home.

Leaves if:a PDF that loads slowly on a phone, or prices from two years ago.

The site does:an online menu with prices, photos and allergens that you update yourself.

  3. Books a table

Picks a time and party size, often at ten in the evening.

Leaves if:booking by phone only, and nobody answers at that hour.

The site does:online booking around the clock, sent straight to your manager in Telegram.

  4. Arrives

Gets a reminder the day before with the address and directions.

Leaves if:the booking got lost or the guests forgot, and the table was held for nothing.

The site does:confirmation and a reminder with a cancel button, so the table frees up in time.

  5. Comes back

Looks for a banquet, an event or a gift card.

Leaves if:the banquet hall and chef’s dinners are known only from posts that have already scrolled away.

The site does:separate pages for banquets, events and gift cards with a request form and payment.

What missed bookings cost you

Enter your numbers: how many booking calls a week go unanswered and how much one table spends on average.

You lose per month

38,700 ₴

Per year 464,400 ₴

A restaurant website: how it looks

The first screen of the restaurant site from our case. The numbers mark what leads a guest to book.

Restaurant website with menu and table booking on a laptop and a phone
  1. Booking on the first screen The booking button and tonight’s free times are visible right away, no scrolling.
  2. Booking in the header “Book a table” sits in the header on every screen.
  3. Kitchen hours alongside Kitchen and terrace hours sit next to the button, not at the bottom of the page.
  4. Same on a phone Menu and booking work one-handed.

How much a restaurant website costs

A coffee shop or café usually needs a small site with a menu and booking form. A restaurant with banquets, events or several venues fits a company site with separate pages for the menu, halls and locations.

Site, menu and booking: how they work together

A guest finds the restaurant in Google or on the map, checks the menu and books a table on their own. The booking reaches your manager in Telegram, and you see how many guests came from search.

  1. What your customer sees

    • Finds the venue in Google search and on the map
    • Sees the current menu with prices and photos
    • Books a table for the right time without calling
  2. What runs inside

The bundle has no price of its own: each part can be ordered separately, at the price of its tier.

  3. What you get

    • Bookings in one place, not in a notebook and DMs
    • You change the menu and prices yourself in a minute
    • You see how many guests came from Google
Before

The menu lived in a PDF and tables were booked by phone at peak hours.

After

The venue updates the menu itself and bookings reach the manager in Telegram.

Case: Restaurant, Lviv
Forecast

Within the first 2–3 months, 30–50% of bookings move from phone calls online, and “what is on your menu” calls at peak hours drop by roughly a quarter.

A guide, not a promise: the actual figure depends on your niche, traffic and how fast your team replies.

The price was higher than I had set aside. A freelancer had promised a store for half the money, but before him two of my shop windows simply did not take payments. The price was higher than what I had set aside, and at first I did not want to agree. A freelancer before them had promised a turnkey store for half the money, but before him I had two shop windows where the payment simply did not go through. For the first days it annoyed me that there was nothing to look at: they asked about stock and about where an order is supposed to land, and showed no mockups. Then it turned out half my enquiries were getting lost in DMs because I did not open them for weeks. I see all of them now. Edits go into the Telegram chat, a day or two and it is done.

Two London agencies quoted double and both wanted a January start. These ones started in November. I did not manage to defend the parallax on the case page — and rightly, on a phone it would have been a mess. The site never went down once during the raise. Mail sent at 23:40 gets an answer within the hour, I checked three times.

Two London agencies quoted double and both wanted a January start. These ones started in November. I did not manage to defend the parallax on the case page — they talked me out of it, and rightly, because on a phone it would have been a mess. In fact the site never went down once during the raise and nothing surprising happened at the finish, although we fought with the analytics for one evening. Mail sent at 23:40 gets an answer within the hour, I checked three times.

I needed one page with booking, nothing cosmic. Three weeks, on budget. I cannot say how many bookings there are now — I still keep them in a notebook, the way I always did — but at night the phone finally stays quiet.

Aggregators took 15% even on the nights we brought in ourselves from Instagram. Aggregators took 15% commission even on the nights we had brought in ourselves from Instagram, and that annoyed us more than anything else. With our own booking the main fear was that it would break in the middle of the season. It has not, although for the first month I checked every request by hand. Guests say they find us on Google. We re-shot the photos twice, and that one was on us: the first set came out dark, and January has very little daylight. I change the holiday prices myself now, they taught me.

Ірина С. hotel manager, Carpathians
They costed the budget at the start and never changed it — probably the main thing I can say. I ordered the site to put a link to it in client contracts, and I am not ashamed of it. At weekends replies are slow, sometimes until Monday. I allow for that now, but it would have been useful to know in advance — nobody told me.

Forty sellers, payments reconciled in spreadsheets. For months I could not get a straight answer on what marketplace development costs — everywhere it was an MVP first, six months, then we see. Here they built a single cart with split payments in 18 weeks. I did not sleep before launch because I was afraid the money would go to the wrong sellers. The first year brought 8.2 million hryvnias in turnover, although that is certainly not down to the site alone. And one more thing: they worked out when it would pay off instead of how many hours it takes, and talked us out of a cashback we did not need yet.

I am in Manchester, so I braced for timezone problems and for explaining everything twice. None of it happened — in Slack they answered faster than my local contractor. The store is in English and runs without hiccups. The one thing I can hold against them: the mailing list only came up in the third week, though I had asked from the start.

I do not understand why it is so expensive. I asked for a site for ten dollars because a mate does them in an evening. Instead: a contract, stages, an audit first. They costed a domain, email, a forty product catalogue and payments — forty five thousand. Why would I need that much, I can build it on a builder for five hundred. I left one star so people do not believe a website costs as much as a phone.

Half a year we argued over a CRM or Excel, and paid for three tools that do not talk to each other. We launched, and the first month my managers pretended nothing had changed. Half a year we argued over whether we needed a CRM or Excel, and we paid for three tools that do not talk to each other: deals in a spreadsheet, the owner without margin, the warehouse writing on WhatsApp. We launched, and for the first month my managers pretended nothing had changed, because the old way was more comfortable. The payment screen was rebuilt three times, and there the question is on them — nobody asked us how we work. Now from lead to shipment it is all in one window instead of three. Calls are recorded, and it finally came out which of my people had promised somebody a discount.

Hi! I’m from the DEXA team. Pick a question — I’ll answer right away, no “a manager will call you back”.

How much does a restaurant website cost?

A coffee shop or small café often needs only a small site with a menu and a booking form; a restaurant with banquets or a chain needs a full company site.

The price depends on menu size, the type of booking, delivery and the number of languages, so we fix it after the brief.

Plans are above; the exact price and timeline go into the contract.

How do you make an online menu for a restaurant?

We build the menu in the site admin: categories, dishes, prices, weight, photos and allergens.

You update it yourself from your phone, and guests see a normal page that opens fast, not a PDF. A QR code on each table leads to the same menu page.

Does a restaurant need a website if it has Instagram and Google Maps?

Instagram shows the atmosphere and the Google card shows the address and rating.

Neither gives you a menu with current prices, booking for a set time or a banquet page.

The site covers that, and Instagram and the Google card point to it with a “Menu” or “Book” button.

How do you attract guests to a new restaurant with a website?

A site does not bring people on its own; search, maps and ads do.

The site makes sure the people who arrive book a table because they see the menu, prices and free times.

For search we build menu, banquet and event pages with Restaurant markup, and for the map we link the site to your Google profile.

How does table booking on the site work?

The guest picks a date, time, party size and, if needed, an area: hall, terrace or VIP.

The booking goes straight to your manager in Telegram, the guest gets a confirmation and a reminder the day before with a cancel button.

If you already use a booking service with a widget or API, we connect it.

Can you add delivery and online payment?

Yes. Delivery runs through your delivery service or POS system if it has a widget or API, or through a separate cart on the site with card payment.

We decide which fits at the brief, as it affects the price.

How long does a restaurant website take?

Company site Lite takes 3–4 weeks, Standard 4–6 weeks: brief and structure, design, menu, booking, testing.

The menu takes longest, so it is best prepared alongside the design. The timeline is fixed in the contract.

Who fills in the menu and takes the food photos?

We move the menu from your file during development; after that you change dishes and prices yourself.

Food and interior photography is not included: we can recommend a photographer or start with the photos you have.

We have a site, but nobody books through it. What do you do?

First a free review: is the menu visible, does booking work on a phone, how fast does the page open.

Often it is enough to replace the PDF menu, add booking and speed up the site; if not, we rebuild it and keep the domain and Google rankings.
