About the project

A website for a Lisbon boutique hotel in four languages, where guests see rates for their dates, understand why booking direct is better and book a room together with a transfer without any emails.

  • Direct booking Dates, room and payment in one step, with no request form.
  • Channel manager Rates and availability synced with the platforms, no overbooking.
  • Direct perks Better rate, late check-out and a gift, right next to the booking form.
  • Transfer and key Transfer in the booking step, directions and a digital key before arrival.
01 · The brief

A 14-room hotel in a restored Alfama townhouse got almost all its bookings through Booking and other platforms and paid them a hefty commission. Its own website was a brochure with a “send a request” form answered the next day. Guests could not see why booking direct was better, and each room had a single photo. Transfers and late check-out were arranged by email after booking.

02 · What we built

We built a company website in English, Portuguese, German and French with direct booking. Dates, room and payment happen in one step, and rates and availability sync with the channel manager, so there is no overbooking. Direct-booking perks (better rate, late check-out, a welcome port wine) sit next to the form. Each room has its own page with photos, size and view. An airport transfer is added during booking, and before arrival the guest gets an email with directions and a digital key.

  1. Before Almost every booking through platforms that take commission.

After Direct booking at a better rate on the hotel’s own site.

  2. Before A “send a request” form, answered the next day.

After Booking and payment straight away, availability from the channel manager.

  3. Before Transfer and late check-out sorted by email after booking.

After Transfer in the booking step, a pre-arrival email with the key.

03 · The client’s path

How a person moves through the product, from the first step to the result the business needs.

Sees rates and room availability for their dates.

  2. Compares with platforms

Direct-booking perks sit right next to the price.

  3. Books

Room, payment and airport transfer in one step.

  4. Checks in

04 · What is inside the project

  1. Direct booking with card payment in one step

  2. Rates and availability synced with the channel manager

  3. Direct-booking perks next to the form

  4. Room pages with photos, size and view

  5. Airport transfer in the same booking step

  7. The site in four languages

Forecast

Over the first season, the share of direct bookings grows to 20–30% with platform commission falling accordingly, and emails about transfers and late check-out drop to almost zero. A guideline, not a promise.
